For a few weeks my Apple TV 4K remote was nearly unusable — slow to respond, sometimes dead for several seconds. I tried the usual suspects: restarting the Apple TV, re-pairing the remote, resetting network settings. Nothing stuck.
One Reddit thread suggested an unusual workaround:
I’ve faced an ongoing issue with the Siri remote becoming unresponsive…none of the standard fixes like restarting or resetting helped. Oddly enough, activating Siri for a simple query instantly restored the remote’s responsiveness.
It got me talking to Siri for the first time, but the improvement didn’t last.
The fix
I moved the Apple TV about 60cm (2 feet) away from my NAS. The lag disappeared immediately and hasn’t come back.
The Siri Remote uses Bluetooth on the 2.4GHz band, which NAS devices, routers, and other electronics can crowd. Proximity matters more than most troubleshooting guides suggest. If the standard resets haven’t helped, try moving the Apple TV before anything else.
